TD treatment is called Shen metal treatment, and the practical application is widely used in melting immersion plating method (or molten salt impregnation method, salt bath deposition method), is the method of forming VC, NbC, Cr23C6-Cr7C3 carbide superhard layer on the surface of the mold. The surface of the mold treated by TD method forms 5 ~ 15um thick VC film, which can significantly improve the hardness, wear resistance, adhesion resistance and corrosion resistance of the mold surface, thus greatly improving the service life of the mold.
TD processing has been quite common in foreign applications. Generally speaking, the use of TD treatment and the use of CVC, PCVD and other methods of surface hardening treatment effect is similar, but because the TD treatment method has the advantages of simple equipment, convenient operation, low cost, etc., so it is a very promising surface strengthening treatment technology.
At present, TD processing has been applied in all kinds of stamping dies, forging dies, wire drawing dies and so on. However, since the temperature of the TD treatment is as high as 1000 ° C., the material is limited. At the same time, due to the large deformation, it is not suitable for high-precision molds, and the heat resistance, oxidation resistance and sintering resistance of VC films are worse than those of nitrides.
